The development of digital technology demands continuous innovation in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning process, particularly at the junior high school (SMP) level, which is characterized by a tendency toward visual learning styles and a high need for interaction. In this context, the use of audio-visual media is seen as a strategic alternative, due to its ability to concretize abstract concepts while simultaneously increasing student active participation in learning activities. This study aims to in-depth examine the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning for junior high school students. The approach used was qualitative, using library research, drawing on sources from various relevant scientific journal articles. Data collection was conducted through documentation studies, while data analysis employed a content analysis approach to gain a comprehensive understanding. The study results indicate that the use of audio-visual media contributes significantly to improving cognitive aspects, learning motivation, and student engagement in the learning process. Furthermore, this media also facilitates educators in delivering material in a more contextual, systematic, and engaging manner. However, its implementation still faces several obstacles, such as limited infrastructure and teacher competency in utilizing learning technology. Thus, it can be concluded that audio-visual media has a high level of effectiveness in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. Therefore, targeted efforts are needed to develop technology-based learning media, as well as improve educator competency so that its use can be optimized sustainably.
